Scott Coker conferma che lo Strikeforce di gennaio sarà l’ultimo trasmesso su Showtime… e dopo?

L’accoppiata Strikeforce-Showtime ha dato dei bei grattacapi all’UFC… finché è durata. Dopo essere stata acquistata dalla Zuffa (casa madre dell’UFC), la Strikeforce è scesa molto a livello di nomi e la Showtime ha dovuto correre ai ripari.
Scott Coker dice: “Dal 2009 la Showtime è stata un’ottima partner che ha supportato benissimo i nostri atleti. Il nostro evento finale sarà pieno di match spettacolari.”
General Stephen Espinoza (Showtime Sports Executive Vice President): “Siamo fieri del lavoro con Scott Coker e il suo Team… da Gina Carano a Ronda Rousey , Fedor Emelianenko & Daniel Cormier, Nick Diaz e Gilbert Melendez… abbiamo costruito alcune tra le più grosse star della storia, non vediamo l’ora dell’evento del 12.”
Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine si terrà il 12 gennaio e a seguito degli infortuni è molto meno spettacolare di quanto c’era da aspettarsi, ma comunque con nomi di tutto rispetto. Oltre alla main card Ed Herman (20-8 MMA, 0-0 SF) vs. ex Strikeforce champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (16-3 MMA, 6-1 SF), Josh Barnett vs Nando, Cormier vs Dion Staring e Mousasi (che potrebbe andare in UFC).
Non si sa cosa succederò dopo: Showtime vuole altre MMA e la Strikeforce vorrebbe stare aperta.
