New pro grappling promotion Tatamy debuts in June in Brno

The professional grappling scene is growing more and more in Europe. The Czech Republic will host the first edition of Tatamy, a Czech promotion that will debut in Brno on June 4th, 2022: the event is divided into two parts, there will be a GALA tournament that will see the participation of some of the best grapplers in Central Europe at -77 kg and an OPEN tournament with all weight categories and levels (Beginners, Intermediate, Pro).

Let’s take a closer look.

THE 16 MEN-GALA WITH BELT AND CASH PRIZE

The GALA is an invitation-only single-elimination tournament, it will use ADCC rules with EBI Overtime, and the winner will be able to take home a cash prize of 10000 czk (about 400 euros) and the champion belt. As we said, European grappers will clash at -77 kg and here are some names (there will be 16 in total) announced so far: Honza Stach, Mateusz Flaga, Shai Gerena, Bartek Lukaszewicz, Tom Maenurm, Ondrej Cetkovsky, Nicolas Filipponi, Liam Alpang, Gyula Szabo, Lukes Fanda.

According to the provisional program of the event, the GALA will take place starting at 9 in the morning.

THE OPEN TOURNAMENT WITH ADCC RULES

The OPEN tournament, open to everyone, will begin once the GALA is over. There will be 7 weight categories for men and 3 for women, with a tolerance of 500 grams. As we said, everything is also divided into levels: beginners, intermediate, pro. Athletes registered for the tournament will have at least 4 guaranteed fights in the case of categories with at least 5 participants, so it is a good way to accumulate a lot of competitive experience in a single day.

In addition, the winners of each weight category in the pros will automatically receive an invitation to participate in the GALA in the respective weight class in the next editions. In short, not just medals!

It will be possible to register until the end of May. For all detailed information about the event and to register for the OPEN tournament, you can take a look at Tatamy’s Smoothcomp page by clicking this link.
