Chi è Marloes Coenen ?
Marloes Coenen (Olst, 31 marzo 1981) è una lottatrice di arti marziali miste olandese.
Combatte nella divisione dei pesi gallo per l’organizzazione statunitense Invicta Fighting Championships.
Attiva nelle WMMA dal 2000, la Coenen è stata detentrice del titolo dei pesi gallo Strikeforce ed ha vinto il torneo giapponese ReMix: World Cup 2000; è stata anche finalista del torneo K-Grace 1.
Per i siti specializzati MMAweekly.com e MMARising.com Marloes è rispettivamente la sesta e l’undicesima lottatrice più forte del mondo pound for pound, mentre per Unified Women è la lottatrice più forte del mondo nella categoria dei pesi piuma.

D: Per i pochi che ancora non ti conoscono presentati ai lettori di Grappling-Italia.com
R: Mi chiamo Marloes Coenen e faccio parte del team Golden Glory. A 19 anni sono diventata campionessa mondiale di MMA per la prima volta a Tokyo. Dopo di ciò ho combattuto per Strikeforce e sono diventata campionessa mondiale nella categoria 135 libbre. Ho anche gareggiato nell’ADCC nel 2005 e 2007(3° posto). Al momento combatto negli USA per l’InvictaFC.
D: Essendo una top fighter donna, penso sia molto difficile conciliare l’essere donna con la mascolinità. Qual’è il tuo segreto?
R: Penso che le MMA non abbiano niente a che fare con il sesso. Guardate alle fighters InvictaFC o a donne come Miesha Tate, Julie Kedzie ecc…
D: Qual’è il tuo programma di allenamenti?
R: Mi alleno quotidianamente nella mia palestra R-Grip ad Amsterdam o nell’est dell’Olanda con Martijn de Jong alla Golden Glory.
D: So che ci sono stati un pò di problemi tra la Golden Glory e la Zuffa. Potresti dirci qualcosa di più? Cos’hai fatto dalla dipartita dagli eventi controllati dalla Zuffa?
R: Al momento le cose tra GG e Zuffa vanno bene. Sono stata ingaggiata da InvictaFC e ho continuato per la mia strada.
D: Il tuo prossimo match sarà per Invicta? Quando pensi di vincere il titolo?
R: Spero di combattere per il primo evento Invicta del 2013.
D: Gli olandesi sono ottimi kickboxers per tradizione…come sta cambiando con il grappling e il passaggio alle mma?
R: Penso che Martijn de Jong abbia fatto un sacco di lavoro per la lotta al suolo e per sviluppare grappling ed MMA in Olanda con la creazione del Shooto Europe ed organizzando anche l’ADCC in Olanda. Vedo un sacco di wrestlers, pugili e thaiboxers passare alle MMA. Ma ora che GG ha sotto contratto tutti i migliori kickboxers del mondo (e il K-1 è l’ombra di sé stesso), penso che un sacco di thaiboxers rimarranno nel loro sport.
D: Sei famosa(e rispettata) per essere assertiva senza fare trash-talking. Apprezzo molto ciò ma probabilmente i fans americani sono diversi dagli europei… Pensi che questa nuova “moda” del trash-talking nella MMA finirà o diventerà sempre peggio?
R: Non sono contro il trash-talking, come quello di Nick Diaz o Chael Sonnen. Fa bene alla pubblicità ma non è il mio modo di fare. Se mi sentite fare trash-talking allora è meglio che scappate perchè vuol dire che sono veramente arrabbiata.
D: Parlando di trash-talking :-)… Dana White ha detto che le MMA femminili approderanno in UFC. Ronda sembra inarrestabile ma siamo pronti a scommettere che non lo è… se supera il test Cyborg potresti affrontarla. Pensi di poter approdare in UFC? Come potrebbe essere la tua strategia?
R: Al momento starò con InvictaFC per ancora un pò di match.
D: Migliore canzone di ingresso?
R: “Can’t be touched” di Roy Jones Jr.
D: Ho saputo che tieni lezioni di MMA per sole donne. Quindi se una ragazza italiana volesse venire in Olanda per migliorare le sue abilità con la regina delle MMA, puoi dirci dove ti alleni e come mettersi in contstto con la tua palestra?

Sono lieta dello sviluppo delle MMA in Italia. Il mio compagno di allenamento Hubert Geven ha combattuto recentemente all’evento Kombat League Cagefight a Vicenza. Spero di venire presto in Italia con i miei compagni a combattere ma anche per provare la vostra cucina!

for the Few who does not know you, please introduce yourself to Grappling-italia.com readers
My name is Marloes Coenen and I am a member of team Golden Glory. At the age of 19 I became a world champion MMA for the first time in Tokyo, Japan. After that I fought for Strikeforce and became a world champion at 135lbs. I also competed in ADCC in 2005 & 2007 (3rd place). Currently I fight in the US for InvictaFC.
As a Woman and as a Top fighter, i think it is very difficult to find a balance between being feminine and masculine. what is your secret ?
I believe MMA has nothing to with gender. Look at the InvictaFC-fighters for instance and women like Miesha Tate, Judie Kedzie and so on.
what is your training regime?
I workout daily at my own gym R-grip in Amsterdam or in the east of the Netherlands with Martijn de Jong at Golden Glory.
I know there were some problem between Golden Glory and Zuffa. Can you tell us something more? what did you do since the part from “zuffa-related” promotion ?
Currently all things between Zuffa and GG are ok. I got signed by InvictaFC and moved on.
Your next match will be at Invicta’s ? when? When do you plan to win the belt ? :-)
I hope to fight for InvictaFC the first event of 2013.
Dutch people are traditionally exceptional kickboxers… how is it changing with grappling and transition to MMA ?
I believe Martijn de Jong did a lot of groundwork for the development of grappling and MMA in the Netherlands with the founding of SHOOTO Europe and also organizing ADCC Holland. I see a lot of wrestlers, boxer & thaiboxers making the transition to MMA. But now GLORY WS has signed all the elite kickboxers in the world (& K-1 is a shadow of it’s former glory), I think a lot of thaiboxers will eventually stay with their sport.
You are famous (and respected) for being outspoken without being a trash talker. I really appreciate that, but probably american fans are different from European..
Do you think this new “fashion” of trash talking in MMA will finish or will get worse ?
I’m not against trash talking. Like Nick Diaz or Chael Sonnen. It’s great for the promotion but it’s just not my thing. When you hear me talking trash better start running for your life, cause I’m really mad than.
Speaking of trash talking :-)… Dana White stated that WMMA will arrive at UFC.
Ronda seems unstoppable but we bet she is not… If she pass the Cyborg’s test , you could rival her. do you think you ll be able to join UFC rank? what could be a game plan?
